July is a perfect month to celebrate love and commitment at our gorgeous wedding barn. As we’re in the heart of summer, we are always hopeful July will gift us with warm, golden days and the breathtaking sunsets that are just so beautiful here.🙌🏻

We still can’t get over Bella and George’s beautifully vibrant wedding they held with us in May - and it’s a day makes us smile on the daily! 💖

Bella and George had a clear vision which they brought together here @strattoncourtbarn with their amazing suppliers (all listed below) so beautifully. From the bunting and ceiling decor in the barn to the simple but so effective decor they chose for their ceremony in Ferne Wood. So much attention to detail and their wedding brought all the fun and joy on what was a showery day!

We love seeing how our main barn gets transformed for every wedding ceremony and it always looks beautiful no matter how lavish or simple the designs are. It has its very own rustic charm which gets an added burst of our couples personalities. Here are a few examples of decor choices. Bold, simple, beautiful.🤘🏻

Our barn has a high ceiling - drapes create a softer look and feel. Or add fairy or festoon lights to create a warm enchanting glow. Or take the barn down an even more rustic vibe and flood the ceiling with foliage and flowers. Adding fabric to the backs of chair can add to the feeling of intimacy,

And a wedding without flowers? It doesn’t exist! But you can keep it simple or go big: flower arches, table centrepieces, petals on the floor. Or subtle greenery. It all adds to the magic.

SWEET DECISIONS: Tips for Choosing the Perfect Wedding Cake 🍰😋

Selecting your wedding cake is a fun journey that combines taste, style, and a touch of personal flair.

We’ve picked up some tips from our amazing suppliers over the years and so thought we’d give you share what we know about choosing the perfect cake for your day: below

1. Start early and book a reputable baker, someone recommended is usually best.
2. Set a clear budget.
3. Be inspired, but be realistic with your design. Bring in examples that you’ve seen that you like, but not too many!
4. Schedule tastings to find your favourite flavours.
5. Think about matching your cake design to your wedding theme
6. Consider your guests’ dietary needs.
7. Choose a size that fits your guest list.
8. Think about the season
9. Add personal touches and perhaps a memorable topper.
10. Plan the delivery and setup.
11. And don’t afraid to be bold! Bold colours, unusual shapes, cool textures and patterns. Go really big on cake size and height or really small with mini cakes
12. Go with your gut instinct!
13. Save some for you! Ask the caterers to keep some cake back for you as often the bride and groom miss out on the cake on the day.
14. And finally…Always save a piece of each tier for the next day to enjoy with a cup of tea! 🫖😋

Between them, and our amazing wedding coordinators Charlotte and Gemma, we work hard to make your day incredibly special and truly unforgettable.🙌🏻

Charlotte and Gemma work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every detail is perfect, seamlessly guiding you through the planning process with their wealth of experience and genuine care. They’ll listen to your vision, offer creative suggestions, and coordinate every element to ensure your wedding day runs smoothly. We take pride in our ability to transform our barn into the magic you most want.🌟

Our trusted suppliers, many of whom we have been working with for years, bring a touch of artistry to each event, using their keen eye for detail to create breathtaking settings. Love at First Sip: our Espresso Martini! 🍸

We do love a rich, creamy and indulgent Espresso Martini here at @strattoncourtbarn and our Bar Manager Josh sure knows how to knock a delicious one up! 😋

The origins of the drink? Well, British bartending guru Dick Bradsell is believed to have created the drink in the late 1980’s. Apparently Kate Moss sidled up to the bar and asked for something to “wake me up and **** me up”. His solution? A combination of vodka, fresh espresso, coffee liqueur and sugar, shaken into a frothy mix. We’ll take that!

Our recipe? Josh uses vodka, Khalua (rum based coffee liqueur) and an Espresso mix of coffee and sugar syrup.

And the three coffee beans garnishing your espresso martini? This is the cocktail’s trademark and are said to represent health, wealth and happiness - exactly what we would wish for our newlyweds!

A Morning in the Life of…Stratton Court Barn! 💒💖

We thought we’d show you a glimpse of what happens on the morning of a wedding in the lead up to the ceremony here at @strattoncourtbarn. So here’s what happened last week before the totally gorgeous wedding of Rose @rosefelicitysprague and Oliver @sprague__ 🌟🥰 (congrats you two!)

The day should always start with a cuppa, and Jonnie and Olivia (the bosses!) check the plan and get started on prepping - drinks are prepped, the grounds get a final tweak, logs get stacked, Prosecco is prepared!🤘🏻

Inside the barn, the preparations are in full swing. Our suppliers arrive early and the barn stands ready to be transformed into a dream venue for today’s special couple. The florists @niamhsflowers start their work and the ceremony space is set up.

In the kitchen, the day’s catering team @sandjcuisine is busy preparing a feast fit for a celebration.

As the bridesmaids and bride get ready their laughter and music reverberates around ares of the barn while work continues. Outside, the drinks area is being set up, the surrounding fields and gardens provide a breathtaking backdrop.

Guests start to arrive and the groom and groomsmen are ready for final touches happen - buttonholes are filled. Gemma and Charlotte our wedding coordinators check and double-check every detail.

And finally the stage is set. All that remains is for the bride and groom to step into their future, surrounded by the beauty and love that our wedding barn provides. 👌🏻

June Love Blooms 🌸💍

Some say June is the best month to get married. In June our picturesque wedding barn glows with warm early summer light! Sarah @sarah.rose.lewis and Dan @danlewis0 (hello both!) had a beautiful June wedding with us last year.

In June, the smell of vibrant wildflowers fills the air and all the greenery captured the essence of an English garden in full bloom. 🌷

Sarah and Dan had their beautiful ceremony in our main barn and then had these gorgeous photos taken in our stunning Ferne Wood (also available to get married in!) and of course round our lake.

With the warmer temperatures the barn’s large doors can be thrown open, allowing the gentle June breeze to flow through and offering panoramic views of the countryside and guests enjoyed delicious seasonal offerings on this occasion from @sandjcuisine.

The reception is a joyous affair, filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and the clinking of glasses - and jumping on a bouncy castle! 🏰

As the sun begins to set, painting the sky in hues of pink and gold, the festivities continue. Guests gather outside around a fire pit, enjoying the warmth and the twinkling stars overhead. A live band sets up, and soon the air is filled with music.

No one (well not many!) want rain on their wedding day but when it happens we like to think that there is a beauty and magic in it - and Tash and James (congrats both, what a gorgeous day it was!) certainly embraced it during their recent wedding here. And the wedding wellies! We love these shots from @lukehardyphotography! 😍🌧️

A rainy Spring or Summer wedding day here at Stratton Court Barn is filled with romance and charm that only drizzle can bring. The soft raindrops on the barn roof add a serene backdrop to the celebrations and the lush greenery around the barn, glistening with fresh rain, makes it look like a painting coming to life.✨

The rain outside contrasts beautifully with the warmth inside, making the barn feel like a magical haven. And who doesn’t love the comforting scent of summer rain?

Umbrellas and wellies, coordinated with the wedding theme, can also work brilliantly for photos, adding a playful and memorable element to the event.

So for us. rain only enhances the romance, turning an already special day into an unforgettable, heartwarming experience. You’ll still hear us saying “rain rain go away” but when it comes - we go with it!🌧️🫶🏻💖

We recently had the pleasure of hosting a gorgeous photoshoot here at @strattoncourtbarn and the results are nothing short of magical.

With talented photographer @anneletournel_photography capturing every exquisite detail, the session was a perfect blend of creativity and collaboration. Though it wasn’t a real wedding, the atmosphere was filled with the same excitement and anticipation as the real deal.

Our picturesque barn provided a stunning backdrop. Anne’s keen eye for detail ensured that every moment was beautifully preserved in the photos.

Our amazing suppliers (listed below - we can’t recommend them enough!) created some beautiful set ups in both our main barn and Ferne Wood - from beautiful florals to the stunning cake and amazing styling and outfits it all came together so beautifully.

We couldn’t be happier with how the photos turned out, capturing the essence of what makes our barn such a special place for weddings. A huge thank you to everyone who participated for making this shoot such a resounding success!

Married in May! 🫶🏻💕

A wedding in May is full of the freshness and vibrancy of Spring and Sophia and Will experienced just that with us here at @strattoncourtbarn - and brought a pop of colour with them!

The lush greenery of the countryside by May has burst into life and the air is filled with the sweet scent of our blooming blossom trees.🌳

By May we’d like to think it’s typically mild…there’s a gentle warmth, the sun casting a golden glow over our picturesque setting. But even when a light shower makes an appearance, it only adds a touch of romance.

Sophia and Will had their ceremony in our main barn and then with the fire pit blazing spent the evening partying away in the barn and outside. Magical! ✨

As the sun sets around 8:30 PM, casting a warm, golden light that makes for stunning photographs and a magical atmosphere.
