Our Story
A Family-Run Venue With A Whole Lot of Heart
Stratton Court Barn is a family-owned venue, situated at Pool Farm, the house and farm that captured Chris and Cathy Wigmore’s hearts nearly 30 years ago. This is where they’ve raised their children and run their event business since, and it’s still their home and passion all these years later.
Handing over the reins
In the last five years, they’ve handed over the reins to their son Jonathan, who continues to follow family tradition of opening up the barns and home for couples and their guests to enjoy on their wedding day. Jonathan is often seen out and about the venue, and his wife Olivia tends to pop in with their three children to check on things over the weekend!
Meet the Stratton Court Barn Team
Jonathan knows the venue inside and out, but when it comes to weddings, he’s brought a team on board who bring wedding expertise and bags of enthusiasm to the table. The wedding team will be your main point of contact during your wedding planning adventure with Stratton Court Barn.
Stratton Court Barn - A short history
How it started
1872
The barn was built, housing equipment and sheep at Pool Farm
1996
Chris and Cathy bought Pool Farm, and the barn is still used as tractor storage and equipment.
2000
The Main Barn was converted to be used as a corporate meeting space, loos were built, and what is now the bar area was turned into a club house
2014
Having seen the potential of the barns and grounds as a place to host celebrations, ‘Stratton Court Barn’ is launched. The club house is turned into the Bar Area, with a new roof, new bar, new floor, reinforced beams, painted ceiling and a new grey, glass and stone contemporary look.
2015
The Main Entrance is renovated, décor completed, and Cathy’s amazing antique finds added.
2017
The bar was extended with a back-of-house area. The Hayloft wedding preparation room was built, along with the stables being fully converted to a lounge space, complete with glass wall. The Stables room was officially born!
2018
The courtyard was given a real make-over with brick pavers, a patio area, an L-shaped oak gazebo and huge parasols.
2019
The outdoor transformation continues and the old car park is turned into a rose garden.
How it is going
2020
The Main Barn and Main Entrance floors were changed to sandstone, adding more of a sense of contemporary warmth to the space.
2020
The Lake was constructed, bringing some waterside charm to the venue.
2021

2022
Granary Cottage, a two-bedroom cottage adjacent to the farmhouse, was converted for couples to be able to stay overnight.
2023
The outdoor stables terrace has seen the addition of a stunning pergola with seating area and festoon lighting.
2024
2024 saw a fabulous addition to Stratton Court Barn. The Byre has been transformed into a stunning space, with industrial chic designs, bifold doors onto the courtyard and a huge focal fireplace with wood burner. The Byre can seat 130 for a ceremony and seated meal on round or long rustic tables.
