FAQs at Stratton Court Barn

How many guests can we have?

The whole venue is exclusively yours for your wedding day.  You can choose to have your indoor ceremony in the Main barn or The Byre, the capacities are:

Maximum 90 for the ceremony and wedding breakfast in the Main Barn.

Maximum 130 for the ceremony and wedding breakfast in The Byre.

Our outdoor ceremony capacity is 130, this applies to the Woodland, Courtyard and Rose Garden spaces.

Maximum 175 for the evening.

We have no minimum number and welcome elopement or micro weddings.

Do we have exclusive use of the venue?

Yes, the venue is entirely yours for your wedding day.

Is Stratton Court Barn licensed for Civil Ceremonies?

Yes, we are licensed by Oxfordshire County Council and have indoor, outdoor and woodland licensed areas.  You would need to book direct with OCC to hold your civil ceremony with us.

Can I get married at a Church and then have my reception at Stratton Court Barn?

Yes, there are many beautiful local churches to choose from. None are more than 15 minutes away. Shelswell Benefice is the collection of churches in the area. Stratton Audley is the closest.

Where are the fairy lights from?

The fairy lights in the bar and the outside building attached festoon lighting come as standard.

The canopy of lights in the Main Barn, The Byre and the outside festoon canopy is available to hire from Something Borrowed Event Hire.

Can we have real candles at the ceremony or reception?

All candles at the venue must be battery or LED powered.

Is there parking onsite?

Yes, there is free parking onsite.  Cars are welcome to be left over night and must be collected by 11am the next day.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes,  it is accessible for wheelchair users and prams. A ramp is to used to access the main barn.  The only part of the main barns that are not accessible are the Hayloft and upstairs at Granary Cottage.

There are disabled toilet facilities.

Please do inform us before the event if you will have any guests with disabilities attending, so that we can make sure they are assisted when necessary.

Are there baby changing facilities?

Yes, these are located in the disabled bathroom.

What time does the party end?

Music and drinks end at 11.30pm. Carriages are by midnight.

The finish time can be extended for an additional cost per hour.

Can we stay in Granary Cottage?

Yes, it is available on the night of your wedding. – check in from 3pm, check out at 11am.

We may be able to offer extra nights, subject to availability.

We have a camping field onsite which can be booked for your guests.

Is confetti allowed?

Yes, only biodegradable/real flower petals, dried or fresh, are permitted.

Do you supply a cake stand and knife?

Yes, we can supply a cake stand or wood slice and a cake knife.

Do you have a wedding preparation room?

Yes, the Hayloft wedding preparation room is the perfect place to get ready on the morning of the wedding. Enjoy complimentary fruit juices, tea and coffee on arrival.  Airy and comfortable, with designer furniture and décor, full length mirrors and private en-suite bathroom, it’s a lovely place to relax and enjoy time with those closest to you while the anticipation builds. You also have access to The Stables – the downstairs lounge area – at this time.  Access time for the Hayloft and Stables is 8.30am.

Is the venue heated?

Yes we have underfloor heating, radiators and a log burner, ensuring your comfort throughout the day.

Are there areas in the venue and grounds we can use for photos?

Our 70 acre venue has many picturesque and secluded spots including rose gardens, woodlands, lake and grasslands which make for spectacular photo opportunities.

Can we invite additional evening guests?

Yes, we allow extra evening guests, our capacity is 175 people.

Do you offer micro weddings and twilight weddings?

Yes, we can cater for weddings with as few as 10 guests. We are also flexible on ceremony times and catering choices.  Please contact us for a bespoke quote.

Does the venue have a sound system and PA microphone?

Yes, the venue has a sound system that plays throughout the venue indoors and outdoors.  The system is for background music and can be paired with your Bluetooth device, please make sure your music is downloaded.  A PA system can be used for speeches if required.

Is there a minimum spend?

No, none of our offerings or packages have a minimum spend requirement.

Do you offer a wedding planner / someone to help plan and deliver our day?

From your initial enquiry through to your wedding day and beyond, one of our Wedding Coordinators will be with you every step of the way. They will guide you through planning, booking suppliers, timings for your day, food and drink, final planning meeting onsite, decoration setup, table plans as well as everything else required to deliver a seamless experience for you and your guests! On the big day they will be there to assist you from the moment you arrive right though to the party at night.

Can we visit the venue?

We would love you to discover the charm of our venue and grounds.

You will meet one of our Wedding and Events Managers.  We’ll chat all about your wedding ideas and you’ll have a lovely explore of the barns and grounds.

We can’t wait to meet you at Stratton Court Barn!

If we love the venue can we reserve a date?

We can place a date on hold for two weeks, no other booking can be taken on this date during that time.  During this time we suggest checking with the Registry service or Church to make sure they are available for your chosen date and time, and making sure your key people are able to attend the date. Once you have confirmed this we can the proceed with the booking process a deposit to secure your date.

How do we confirm our booking and make payment?

A booking agreement is issued for signing and 40% of the venue hire is required as a deposit – your wedding is then confirmed! You return to the venue approximately 3 months prior to the wedding date for a final planning meeting with your co-ordinator. At this meeting, all the wedding details are discussed in detail and finalised in preparation for the big day!

The balance payment is due after the final planning meeting has taken place.
