Woodland Wedding Inspiration
We recently hosted a styled shoot at Stratton Court Barn with our wonderful recommended suppliers. The official images are currently circulating on social media and have been picked up by a couple of wedding blogs; so on our own page I thought it could be fun to share some inside secrets and behind-the-scene images.
Love this photo, as the mirror shows four images in one: bird, lights, bride and sky. This is the "Lainey" dress from Charlotte Balbier's Willa Rose collection. Seriously flattering: wedding dress engineering at its best! Rachel from Butterfly Bridal supplied the dress and the headpiece (which was comfortable to wear, not just beautiful to look at!).
That bouquet. Can't. Stop. Staring.
So these are the creative geniuses behind Flowers by Kirsty. Rebecca and Kirsty, who are sisters in "real life", and together, they're a hilarious comedy duo. Could listen to their banter all day long!
Helen at Batch17Bakes showed me a sketch of the cake she intended to do, in the early stages of planning the shoot. I went YES PLEASE! But it wasn't until late, on the day of the shoot, that I noticed the little mushrooms and the fairydoor at the back. How sweet is that?!
Brides on the hunt for props take note: Brackley Antique Cellar. A hidden gem for vintage items. The glassware was purchased there to complement the warm filaments in the Edison bulbs.
Most days I love how light and airy the barn is. But when you're waiting for darkness in order to shoot bulb lights, well, it's not so welcome. But here is an image that really shows how much light those windows let in, even when part covered!
It's still light... At this point, Oakwood Events - who made the light shelf - had arrived to break down. We supplied Steve with coffee and chocolate to bribe him in to waiting until it was dark!
Fig and Gorgonzola on Bruchetta, with Chocolate Pebbles and Truffles on Cocoa Sand. Lemon Zest flexed their creative muscles and showed us how it's done! Really wish I could say I had a chance to try one. Amy (from Lemon Zest) reports that they're amazing though. Thanks for that Amy, haha!
This was also a trial-run before the Mackenzie wedding in May. With some - rather delicious - experimenting, we got it right. This is our "Mackenzie Mocktail": Strawberry & Peach Cooler with rosemary and lime.
Anyone who has seen our bar, has probably quickly deduced that we're gin fanatics! So we had to create a gin cocktail, of course. Pictured you see our Mint & Cucumber Gin Cooler. Seriously refreshing on a summer's day!
Please do get in touch if you like any of the images you've seen, and would like to re-create them for your day. We'll make it happen!
