It’s spring, and as always, lots of activity here at Stratton Court Barn! So what’s new for this year?
The Wedding Guide
Starting off, we’ve been featured in a lovely publication made by local jewellers Robert Gatward in Thame, called The 2018 Oxfordshire Wedding Guide. Not only does it feature some great advice on rings, you will also find details on a few of our regular suppliers, including Flowers by Kirsty, Carol Elizabeth Photography and the Wild Oven.
Suppliers - Photography and Cake
Speaking of regular suppliers, we’ve unfortunately lost two from our recommended-list, due to personal circumstances. Dan Rayner Photography, who is responsible for the majority of images in our website galleries, has set 2018 as his last as Wedding Photographer, and we’ll sorely miss his brilliant banter and even more wonderful images. Here are few favourites from last summer:
Equally, Batch17Bakes – who has made some incredible cakes and cupcakes for our brides and photo shoots – is no longer operating.
The photography void is filled with Dale Stephens Photography and KJA Photography, who join our already recommended Tony Hart Photo and White Stag Weddings.
And in a lovely turn of events, one of our 2016 brides has started her own cake business, and oh-boy! She’s so good! Cherry Tree Cakerie – have a look at her website.
The Courtyard
Cathy has put her back in to making the courtyard even more welcoming. A fabulous new seating area has been created in the corner, and more space has been allowed in front of the barn to make outside ceremonies easier. Images courtesy of Carol Elizabeth Photography:
Darling Buds of May
I cannot wait for May and the summer buds and blooms to come! Even more beautiful plants have been added by Cathy’s green fingers: The car park “field” has a new row of silver birch trees, that essentially surrounds it with pretty foliage. And white hydrangeas now flank the top gate and fence.
The (Gin) Bar
As you probably know, we’re rather big fans of gin here, and the Top Shelf is ever expanding with incredible new concoctions. New additions include (among others) exclusive Duck & Crutch Kensington Dry Gin, Burleigh’s London Dry Gin and local Toad Oxford Dry Gin. Needless to say, wonderfully refreshing Warner Edwards Rhubarb Gin is proving to be a real hit in the sunshine. Try mixing with tonic and a slice of grapefruit – utterly refreshing!
We have also introduced three drinks packages, as it’s become clear that it’s something many couples would like in order to help with their budgeting. Our standard package is £16 per person, and includes a drink after the ceremony, - Pimms being a firm favourite for summer weddings - half a bottle of wine per person with the meal and a glass of prosecco for speeches.
For the Groom
While speeches are of course something the groom and best man plays a vital part in, very little is otherwise dedicated to the Significant Other. I’m therefore so delighted to introduce a new partnership with the Gent’s Groom Room, in Bicester, who are offering fantastic deals for our Stratton Court Barn grooms. The packages on offer are:
